Yucca & Moth Symbiosis Napkin set

$86.00
sold out

One of a kind hand block printed on cochineal hand dyed recycled cotton. Six napkin with lace set. Fuchsia color with black ink.

Each textile piece is one of a kind created through a multi-step process which begins with carving a “block.” Once the block is carved it is printed, often with other blocks which match in theme or style- like Symbiosis!

Printing is a time intensive process which involves the whole body. The block is rolled with ink which is then stamped - by hand and foot (literally!)- into the fabric. Blocks are repeated to create a pattern and/or paired to create a cohesive design. Each individual image comes from its own block which must be inked and pressed each time it is printed. This process creates unique irregularities which add to the relief printmaking aesthetic.

Prior to printing the fabric is treated in a multi-step natural dye process which includes scouring, mordanting and patiently applying color to the fibers. Dyes are foraged and sourced from natural non-toxic materials- for details on dye types just ask! The natural dyeing process can also lend itself to variegation, further creating one of a kind pieces.
